LEXINGTON, N.C. (January 16, 2024) – Hospice of Davidson County is proud to announce two (2) staff members have been appointed to serve on National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) professional work groups. Emma Hylton, MDiv, has been appointed to serve on the NHPCO’s Next Generation Leadership Advisory Council, and Paige Overby, MHA, on the NHPCO Quality and Standards Committee.

“Our agency is incredibly proud of these two professionals being recognized on the national stage,” says Laura Owen, Chief Executive Officer. “They have proven to be tremendous leaders within our agency and our community, and I am excited that their dedication has been noted by the NHPCO. These two passionate women are going to make impactful contributions to the advancement of the hospice and palliative care field nationwide.”

Emma Hylton (MDiv), one of the agency’s Spiritual Counselors, has been appointed to serve a two-year term on the NHPCO’s Next Generation Leadership Advisory Council. As an Advisory Council member, Ms. Hylton will directly impact leadership development focusing on retention and engagement of young professionals in the field of hospice and palliative care. This Advisory Council offers input and guidance to NHPCO leadership and the Board of Directors to best meet the needs of young industry professionals.

Paige Overby (MHA), the agency’s Quality and Compliance Specialist, has been appointed to serve for two (2) years on the NHPCO Quality and Standards Committee. As a Committee member, Ms. Overby will contribute to NHPCO’s initiatives, educational, and programmatic activities related to quality. This Committee assists with developing quality resources and is responsible for updating NHPCO Standards of Practice for Hospice programs.

Ms. Hylton and Ms. Overby join three (3) staff members already representing Hospice of Davidson County on state and national committees. Glen Hubbard (CPA, MBA, CHFP), Chief Financial and Operations Officer, is completing his term on NHPCO’s Finance and Information Systems Steering Committee. Jennifer Everhart (RN, CHPN), Chief Clinical and Corporate Compliance Officer, actively serves on both the NHPCO’s Professional Education Committee and the Association for Home and Hospice Care of N.C.’s (AHHC) Hospice Clinical and Regulatory Affairs Committee. Kaitlyn McFadden (BSN, RN, CHPN), Director of Home Care Services, serves on the AHHC’s Hospice Leadership Council.

“For many years, the agency’s slogan was ‘the hometown hospice,’ and we remain committed to serving our community. The commitment to local, personalized service does not dilute our goal of being an industry leader on the local, state, and national levels,” emphasizes Laura Owen, Chief Executive Officer. “We will continue to serve our Davidson County community to the best of our ability, hiring and retaining the best and the brightest staff in our field, working tirelessly to improve end-of-life care for all.”
