Highlights from Our 16th Annual Golf Tournament: Over $20,000 Raised for Patient Care
April 21, 2025 • By Hospice of Davidson County
April 17th, 2025, more than 120 golfers teed off at Sapona Golf, Swim & Tennis Club to support Hospice of Davidson County’s mission of providing expert, compassionate care—regardless of ability to pay. In its 16th year, our annual golf tournament brought the community together for a day of friendly competition, fun contests, and fellowship, ultimately raising over $20,000 for patients living with serious illness and families in need of grief support.
A Day of Friendly Competition
This year’s format was a four-person Captain’s Choice with shotgun starts in both the morning and afternoon. Thirty teams vied for top honors on the greens, each eager to add their name to the leaderboard—and to the wall of bright lime-green blazers donned by our defending champions.
In addition to the main event, players tested their skills in:
-
Putting Contest
-
Longest Drive Contest, coached by two-time World Long Drive Masters Champion Jeff Crittenden
-
Closest to the Pin Contest
Congratulations to Our Winners
🏆 First Place: Salcoa Contracting, Inc.
Keith Dorsett, Ryan Honeycutt, Chace Jensen & Ryan Szalay
🥈 Second Place: Local Real Estate
Josh Tackett, Ryker Tackett, Cody Hill & Rodney Hill
Other contest champions:
-
Putting: Leigh Armentrout
-
Longest Drive: Vonnie Nelson
-
Closest to the Pin: Richard Payne, Ryan Szalay & Keith Dorsett
Fueling the Fun
No golfer goes hungry on tournament day! Participants started with mouthwatering breakfast biscuits from The Barbeque Shack (Thomasville) and gourmet coffee from Given Coffee Truck, a ministry of HopeCity. Mid-day refueling came courtesy of Bridgett’s Kitchen in Lexington.
