Hospice of Davidson County hosts year-round events supporting and recognizing caregivers, families, and individuals as they navigate the end-of-life journey. Our community engagement events provide an opportunity for fellowship, growth, and awareness for anyone navigating, supporting or processing a hospice journey.

Stronger Together Through Creative Healing

Hospice of Davidson County & Carolina Senior Care are proud to introduce a new Creative Counseling Series for our community, that uses guided artistic expression as a pathway to reflection, connection & healing – no artistic experience required.

These sessions will be held at Carolina Senior Care, 802 East Center Street, Lexington and registration is required, as space is limited. We look forward to welcoming participants to this supportive and creative experience.

National Healthcare Decisions Month

Each April, we observe National Healthcare Decisions Month, a time dedicated to encouraging individuals and families to reflect on, discuss, and document their healthcare wishes.

Advance care planning is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give your loved ones. By clearly communicating your values and preferences, you help reduce uncertainty during difficult moments and ensure that your voice is honored, even if you are unable to speak for yourself.

Throughout the month, our team offers educational resources, workshops, and guidance to help individuals understand advance directives, healthcare power of attorney, and other important planning tools. These conversations are not only practical — they are an act of love and stewardship for those closest to you.

Advance Care Planning Lunch & Learn

As part of National Healthcare Decisions Month, Hospice of Davidson County invites you to join us for a complimentary Advance Care Planning Lunch & Learn on our campus. This educational session will provide helpful information about advance directives, healthcare decision-making, and the steps you can take today to ensure your wishes are clearly documented.

We are pleased to welcome special guest Misti Boles Whitman, Attorney at Law, who will share guidance related to estate planning and other important considerations when planning ahead.

Held the first Wednesday of every month from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M., this in-person support group offers a place to share and support one another.  Grief looks different for everyone and this group is open to any member of the community as well as the loved ones of patients under our care. Grief Counselor, Emily Sullivan, leads the monthly conversation addressing topics relevant for the needs of the group.

Hearts for Hospice Valentine Initiative (February) 

Hearts for Hospice is a special annual initiative that brings our community together in a meaningful way to support patients and families served by our agency. Through donations and volunteer involvement, this initiative helps provide comfort items, encouragement, and tangible expressions of care to those facing serious illness.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make our 2026 Hearts for Hospice initiative such a success. Your generosity, time, and servant hearts made a lasting impact on the families we serve. We truly could not do this work without the strength and kindness of our community.

Please keep an eye out for details about our 2027 Hearts for Hospice initiative. We look forward to partnering with you again as we continue sharing comfort, hope, and care throughout our community.

Ride for Angels Motorcycle Ride

Our annual Ride for Angels Motorcycle Ride is a long-standing tradition that brings together riders, supporters, and community partners for a powerful day of purpose and remembrance. More than just a ride, this event honors the lives of those who have been served by our hospice programs while raising essential funds to support compassionate care for patients and families in our community.

Each year, participants gather in fellowship and unity, riding together to celebrate life, remember loved ones, and ensure that hospice services remain available to all who need them. The roar of engines carries a message of hope, support, and unwavering compassion.

We are especially excited as we look ahead to our 19th Annual Ride for Angels. This year will include some exciting updates — including a much-requested date change that we believe will make the experience even more enjoyable for our riders and supporters.

Annual Professional Conference on Grief and Loss (October)

Our Annual Professional Conference on Grief and Loss is a meaningful gathering designed to equip, educate, and inspire professionals who walk alongside individuals and families experiencing grief. This conference brings together clinicians, counselors, social workers, healthcare professionals, educators, clergy, funeral directors and community leaders for a day of learning, reflection, and connection.

In addition to continuing education opportunities, the conference fosters collaboration and professional networking among those dedicated to compassionate care. It is part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening grief support services within our community and advancing excellence in care.

National Hospice & Palliative Care Month (November)

Each November, we observe National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, a time to recognize the compassionate care provided to individuals and families facing serious illness. This month offers an opportunity to raise awareness about the comfort, dignity, and holistic support that hospice and palliative care bring to patients and their loved ones during some of life’s most meaningful moments.

Hospice and palliative care focus on enhancing quality of life — addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs while honoring each individual’s goals and values. Through an interdisciplinary approach, our team walks alongside families with expertise, empathy, and unwavering compassion.

As part of this national observance, many faith communities also recognize Hospice Sabbath, a dedicated time to reflect on the sacredness of life, compassionate caregiving, and the importance of supporting those facing serious illness and loss. Hospice Sabbath provides a meaningful opportunity for congregations to lift up caregivers, remember loved ones, and learn more about end-of-life care resources available within the community.

Night of Reflection & Luminary Event (December)

Our Night of Reflection & Luminary Event is a meaningful evening dedicated to remembrance, hope, and community. As dusk settles, luminaries glow in honor and memory of loved ones, creating a peaceful space for reflection and connection.

This special gathering provides families and friends an opportunity to pause, remember, and celebrate the lives that have touched their hearts. Through music, shared moments of silence, and spoken tributes, we honor the enduring impact of those we hold dear while offering comfort and support to one another.

The Night of Reflection is open to the community and serves as a beautiful reminder that even in loss, light continues to shine.
