At Hospice of Davidson County, our commitment to everyone in our care is our number one priority. We are actively monitoring COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) and how it pertains to you, our patients and families. We are actively engaged with and following the directives of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the NC Department of Health and Human Services to understand what we can continue to do to keep those we serve and our staff informed and prepared.

A few things to be aware of are:

  1. We have convened an Internal Response Team (IRT), made up of various members of our agency that are responsible for monitoring this rapidly changing situation.
  2. We are equipping our staff with educational tools and resources. Our staff continues to receive education on best practices for care and infection control.
  3. In an effort to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients, their families, and staff, we have made the decision to limit the number of patient visitors to our campus. If you would like to visit a loved one, we ask that you call our Hinkle Hospice House at 336-474-2096 prior to your visit. Additionally, all patient visitors will be screened prior to entering our building and we will limit the number of visitors allowed in to see patients at a single time. Social distancing is vitally important to keeping all those in our care safe, and for that reason, use of the outdoor areas of our campus including porches, gazebo, gardens, and parking lots are restricted for arrivals and departures.
  4. We are utilizing TapCloud, our HIPAA-compliant telehealth service, to help conduct visits, monitor patient symptoms, and communicate important information as it becomes available. Opting in to our telehealth service, TapCloud, can give you access to your care team from your smart device. If you have not yet signed up for TapCloud, let us know and we’ll be happy to help get you connected.

What is Hospice Care?

Hospice is a specialized type of health care that is delivered by our own physicians, nurses, Hospice aides and social workers. Many patients and families also choose to include additional team members such as a spiritual counselor, grief counselor, and a volunteer.
